Been a while but I’m finally back up and working. Pc and computer room took a shot of lightning and cooked about 5 weeks ago. No damage to house or property…just PC and some peripherals. Taken this long to get everything back to normal and start loading the new Pc with some of the stuff I lost. Worst problem is trying to get some of my older stuff to run on Windows 7! I’m still waiting for a few ‘upgrades’ from vendors who volunteered to send me compatible versions. I preach to everyone about backing stuff up and then am the one who’s the worst at doing it. I lost all the Illustrator files I was working on with patterns and old pictures from shows, projects, etc. Been busy trying to find some of it on last years backup and some older backup disc’s. Rough job so far. Looks like some I’ll never get back now. But at least I’m back on-line and can get back into the groove.

Your hard drive may still be okay. Depending on what exactly happened when the lightening struck you may be able to remove your harddrive from the old computer, put it in your new one (along side the new hard drive, not replacing it) and recover the files.

Hope it works out for you.
