no previous part Part 1 of From cluttered garage to organized (hopefully) wood shop!! series Part 2: Progress! »

So I have made the decision to turn my garage into a part-time, hobby type wood shop. I do construction and residential renovations as my primary income, but this is my true passion! I also changed my major in college to “Fine woodworking and Furniture Making” which I didn’t even know existed… turns out its an Arts degree, and they offer transfer opportunities if desired…

The way things currently stand, my garage is about 350 sq ft, with the previous homeowner having build walls and a room around the original carport (the carport is still there INSIDE the garage!!), and additional space as well as a very high, 14’length x 35”deep x 40”high work bench, along another section…

All in all, plenty enough space for me to have a shop to practice my woodworking skills!

so this is literally the first post, with the first pictures of the current cluttered garage…
included is a layout I did to scale so I could figure some things out and start to piece together what I’m going to do with it!

Throw it out!! 90% of it seems to be empty containers of some kind or another, or straight JUNK that has no business being on this property in the first place! Luckily, I will eventually have about 400 sq ft of newly floored attic space to store it all.

Been there, still there. My sympathies. Tossing stuff is so very hard to dooooo.

Have you considered building a shed?

It’s all about choices. I know because I suck at it.

Family storage space and a hobby room are tough. Good Luck.

Have your say...
