Removing Watco wipe on poly - 2 replies

I have plywood tables on which I used Watco Natural Danish oil. Over that I used 2 coats of Watco wipe on poly. The Danish finish job has proved to be poor, and I would like to remove it. Can I first remove the poly by some means other than sanding before I sand off the Danish?

I have tried using water based dyes to enable the grain in light grained wood to show thru. The problem is that the wood soaks up the water dye too fast to enable me to apply it evenly. One recommendation is to first apply a wood conditioner. That has helped to suspend the dye a bit, but I still can’t get the color to go on evenly. Also...

I have discovered that the flange nut is too thin to provide adequate access for a wrench to tighten it. It is exactly equal to the terrible thin (and short) wrenches that came with the saw.
