Incra Customer Service

Incra Customer Service

01-16-2017 12:30 AM by PatrickB | 4 comments »

I just had to post this since it is such a positive item. I have just ordered the Incra I-Box jig and I went to the site to order a couple of doodads to go with the jig. An extra guide arm, plate and the rings that help set it to the size of the miter slot. Not that much really but I was pretty surprised that shipping was almost a 1/3 of the price of the order altogether. Anyway I wrote in the comments section that I thought that the shipping was kind of high for so little. I wasn’t an...

Bosch Colt router has collet problems.

Bosch Colt router has collet problems.

I thought I would add to this review due to some of the replies I have received. Every time I operated the tool I experienced an issue with either the fence vibrating loose or the bit vibrating loose. Every time I operated the tool means maybe 7 or 8 times total. It appears to me some people think “every time” to mean 150 or 500 times or whatever they want it to mean. When purchased this tool was meant to go on a cnc router build I was going to do so other than looking it over ...

I just don't get it anymore.

Update:It was mentioned in a review I wrote about another tool that it took me 20 years before I wrote a review and that as far as he was concerned what I say doesn’t really count. So I thought I would update why it took so long to write my review. I have always been very happy with this tool. It’s done plenty of studs and joists and decks. Cut just great and runs like a champ. My only complaint arose the one time I do not have a table saw and I had to make some precision on a pro...

Duelen Planer Blade Sharpening Jig 12"

Duelen Planer Blade Sharpening Jig 12"

10-06-2014 11:28 PM by PatrickB | 6 comments »

Got this handy little gizmo in the mail the other day and used it right off on my DeWalt 12 1/2” planer blades. I would wait until all six edges need sharpening before sharpening the blades. It’s easier to sharpen 6 edges and keep it even for all the edges. I sharpen 2 edges, remove one blade and flip the other blade and put in the 3rd blade and sharpen as before. Then remove the blade that was flipped and install the first removed blade with one edge needing sharpening still. And...

So mad I could spit!!!

So mad I could spit!!!

Purchased this tool refurbished. Blades were so dull it wasn’t funny. couldn’t even run balsa wood thru it, LOL. So I bought the Deulen Jig to resharpen the blades because I figured refurbished the blades wouldn’t be very good to start off with so I planned ahead. Just to set this rant up for you folks, I work as a mechanic in a power plant making all kinds of repairs. I’ve been doing this for over 25 years and have had my share of bad fasteners. I did try to plane som...

Laguna Tools 14/12 initial review.

Laguna Tools 14/12 initial review.

09-26-2014 09:50 PM by PatrickB | 22 comments »

Hello,This is my initial review of the Laguna 14/12 bandsaw. I earlier owned the Grizzly G0555 Extreme which I sold. I pondered getting another Grizzly and found the Laguna on sale at Rockler. BY the time I was done with replacing parts on the Grizzly to reach the Laguna as it came stock I was already over the sale price so that rapidly changed my mind. I remember my old Grizzly was always a little slow on cutting but I didn’t really have any issues with it. There are some changes to th...

Foredom TH 1/3 hp flex shaft tool?

Foredom TH 1/3 hp flex shaft tool?

I love this tool. I use it quit a bit for a variety of odd jobs but mostly for sanding and some filing. Right out of the box I was impressed, the motor feels substantial in my hand, beefy even. Everything was well packaged and no damage evident. I also purchased the right angle grinder kit at the same time. I have some sanding drums for it too. I do not have a hanger for this but I would highly recommend getting the hanger although it’s not an absolute. I set on my bench top sometimes ...

It's a good saw for it's intended use.

It's a good saw for it's intended use.

Ok, I bought one of these. It was a temporary saw and never intended to be my main saw. It is has a certain cool factor to it too. I think this is a great saw for a person who does floor installs and other small on the job carpentry work. All of the accessories are easy to access and held in place quite well. The fence worked, it came with a push stick and a miter but lets face it, a miter fence on most saws is not a top line item and it’s true in this case too. I originally bought this ...

A GOOD LITTLE SAW

A GOOD LITTLE SAW

10-04-2013 10:37 PM by PatrickB | 3 comments »

While this saw is not made anymore (it is made in another version) I found it to suffice for my needs at the time. The covering on the table wore off kind of quick but it did not impact the performance of the saw. For a job site saw the fence was adequate but nothing fantastic. I did put a WoodWorker II saw blade on it and that made a difference in how the saw cut. For over $100.00 it better make a difference!! I was able to 8/4 wood for cutting boards with this saw. I will admit it did not ...

The Ultimate Bandsaw???Hmmmm.

The Ultimate Bandsaw???Hmmmm.

10-04-2013 10:28 PM by PatrickB | 1 comment »

Well, I would have actually given this machine 4.5 stars but that is not an option. I no longer have this bandsaw but while I had it I did enjoy using it. I had a very early issue with the blade tension device but that was operator error and soon rectified by the helpful folks at Grizzly. My only complaint about this bandsaw is the crappy rubber tires. Any blade under a 1/2 inch just would not track well. I tried everything I could think of, checked that the wheels were coplanar, that there w...
