Many peoples ask us how easy it is to clean up Old Brown Glue.

One of the things I really love about hot hide glue and liquid hide glue, is it cleans up easily AND without damaging the finish

Here is a video on repairing antiques and conserving the finish

It does also work on more fragile finishes.

On the post regarding our treasure box

i explain that often in french furniture, with french polish finish, the pieces are finished before glueing, there fore all the corners and insets etc… are perfectly polished.

The interior of the boxes are finished

Then the boxes are glued with Old Brown Glue. It is typically french to finish the parts before glueing. As it is often a french polish finish, this way you have perfect finish in the corners, and using hide glue cleans up so easily with water.

Just finish your outside and you are done
