This is my shop 24X40. The workbench in the first picture is actually a potting bench I built to use for the garden, but it has come in handy. So, I will leave it there until I can build a proper woodworking bench. Also, the area in front of the table saw (open garage door) I leave open so I can work on my tractor, car or whatever.

There is an 8 by 8 area that I designated as a small room for spray finishing. It is way too small and only works for small projects – something I will have to think about redoing in the future. The lumber storage area works pretty well, but I am also working on a storage area in another out building where I can store wood and let it dry until I need to bring it into the shop.

The only other thing of note is that I chose to cluster some of the tools in the center instead of trying to put everything against a wall. I am VERY happy with this layout.

What a space! All the room you will ever need. Lets see some pics of your projects.

Very nice shop. good tools and well organized. I was particularly interested, I am planning to build my new shop 24×40…..it looks like you have plenty of room, but you always outgrow any space it seems.

Well, there are a couple more things I should say about the shop. Since I took the pictures I have added a 24 X 72 inch workbench in front of the jointer for a little more work space. Also, the shop is not a dedicated woodworking shop. I leave the area in front of the table saw and the big shop door empty so that I can work on the lawn tractor, car or other maintenance if needed. Finally, there is a dedicated area that I kept for a spray booth behind the dust collectors, but it is only 8’ by 8’. That works great for small projects and allows me to still use the rest of the shop for dust making, BUT it is too small for the larger projects. In retrospect I maybe should have made it a 12 by ? (something). But, it is what it is and I am thankful for what I have.

Great space and good to see others from the Panhandle.
