Brady, TX
United States

Been quite a while, but then I am not in as big a hurry as I was 40 years ago….
Finally getting equipment moved in and starting a bit of work. Still things to do, but I just realized it will probably never be finished.

looks like you’ve got the makings of a dream shop Charlie, and if your mostly gonna do hand work you should be in heaven.my main recommendation put in lots of outlets, air lines throughout and a good dust collector.also lots of good lighting.one thing that’s also a nice luxury is a bathroom, especially on cold rain days, and your wife will love it.looking forward watching your progress.welcome to lumber jocks.

Thanks pottz, your recommendations are welcome. While I am only a short way from the house, I am downhill from the septic tank, so the bathroom is out. The good news is that we have very few of those kind of days here in Central Texas!

Thanks Mike. I am doing this solo so using a number of ‘helper’ fixtures and proceeding very slow. Right now the weather is holding me up but I think I will have some cooperation later this week. I hope to get the roof done this weekend and get the siding on so I can get the crew in to do the blown insulation. This will be a first time to work in a shop that I was able to plan for ahead of time, so I am going over the planned layout incessantly. I have already made some more adjustments to my layout after looking through the shops on this site. What a treasure this site is!

In spite of bad weather and poor health, I have finally finished the outside. Sprayed on insulation and wall covering is next. I can already see it filled with my tools and benches….. I have plywood covering the large door opening. As soon as the structure is finished I will build the barn doors for that opening as my first official project!

In the last pic I uploaded you will see a two man saw hanging on the wall that came from my great grandfathers farm in South central Kansas 1877.
