I study wood science at Oregon State University. I like to turn and build bows from sticks. I have accumulated about 1000 hours of lathe experience since September 2017 Studying under Dr. Seri Robinson has greatly improved my skill over a rather short time frame. She insisted that we start with traditional tools. For this reason I mostly turn with a skew chisel, a flat grind bowl gouge, and some specialty hollowing tools.
