I have always enjoyed building things but never enough to make it a full time job or hobby. I would call myself handy around the house and able to do most home improvements but by no means a master.

In January 2010 I had my first turning experience on a lathe where I turned a basic 7mm slimline pen with my 6yo son and loved it. Since that day I have spent nearly every free minute studying turning and practicing in the shop. I can't believe it has taken me this long to find the lathe!

I work full-time, have a family, and the only time I get to work on the lathe is at night. I have always been a Night Owl so turning at night just feels right.

Welcome to Lumber Jocks! This is a great place to get – or give – advice about woodworking on the forums and the project posts are a wonderful source of new ideas. I look forward to seeing your projects and posts.

To get the most feedback on your projects, it’s best to only post 1 or 2 at a time. This way you will get feedback over several days and from a wide variety of members.

Please enjoy your membership.

Thanks for the warm welcome all! I’m enjoying the site and will soon start posting some projects I’m working on. Mostly all turnings at this point but will be branching out in the future.
