I think it's spring!

For the second day in a row the sun has shone brightly in our area and a warm spring breeze has lightly moved through the air.

Today, as I roamed the property picking up pieces of this and that, I ended up on one of the benches that Rick and I built last year. The bench is nestled between two lilac bushes and last year I created an arc of lilacs that will eventually surround the little retreat bench and separate it from the neighbour’s property/garage.

Lilac Bench

My little moment of solitude stretched into five minutes, then ten, and then I lost track of time as I savoured the warmth of the sun and the gentle breeze upon my face. I sat listening to the birds, the snapping of pine cones, and the rhythmic sound of branches and twigs rubbing against each other. I watched the buds on the lilac bushes, the greens of spring flowers as they prepared to burst into an array of colours, and the white clouds drifting nonchalantly across the beautiful blue sky.

I don’t think a single vehicle went down the road during this time of meditation but then I cannot be sure as I was lost in the moment.

I thanked Mother Nature for her gifts and then forced myself to leave my little bench and move on with my day.

(the bench is one of several that Rick and I made last year. This particular one was built specifically for a moment of reflection while working in or wandering around the front yard)

Ack! Debbie, don’t you know that as soon as you start thinking it’s spring, a blizzard will blow through! At least, that’s how it’s been this spring here in Colorado…we’ve had 2 snows already in April.

But, that bench does look like a tranquil place to while away this Friday.

I “KNOW” that we’ve had our last blizzard.. just a few more snowflakes here and there.. but nothing to worry about.

Great little spot to sit and reflect. Great job.

Peaseful and relaxing at it’s best. Wish I had a back yard like you Debbie. My back yard is like a postage stamp.

thanks :0

PJack – I’m so lucky. My husband and I were so lucky to have been able to afford this place … it was really really cheap. I’m still not sure why it was so cheap.. I think it was just the Universe putting us here. we have 3/4 acres of land. My son keeps saying, “move to BC mom”. No way—I have land and I’m not giving it up. I couldn’t afford to buy land today!

Deb, all of us in this world just need to take the time to just sit and reflect on things. That’s are problem now days, go go go and no one wants to just think and enjoy life. Thanks for the picture, the only thing that would have made that picture any better would have been to see your smiling face as you were in that world of slow pace enjoyment.
