Before I head out to the shop to build, build, build more benches I wanted to share a bit of information and details about my $46.00 Craftsman Lathe. After digging around another fave web site Vintage Machinery I found my exact lathe in the 1941 catalog. I can’t say it was manufactured in 1941, but I am quite confident that this is the exact lathe t hat I have. Sadly, i do not have any of the accessories except for one piece, the 9 inch face plate. Otherwise, it’s a plain lathe. BUT, I am very happy to have it, and I have ordered the fancy PowerTwist V-belt for it, so it should be humming along in the next 7-10 days. The lathe came with a hefty motor too, so I really only need to mount it somewhere and wait for my fancy belts to show up.
Here’s a copy of the catalog page – I added the model/item number at the top in case one of you has this same lathe, you can check out the catalog page on it. Or, download the whole 1941 catalog here.
