Need table saw advice - 23 replies

I am thinking seriously about upgrading my table saw. I have a Craftsman hybrid and it has done fairly well since I purchased it a few years ago. I have noticed that it is slightly underpowered especially in thicker stock. But I expected it being it is only 1.5hp. I knew that when I bought it I wouldn’t have it forever, a good starter saw ...

I was given a Walker Turner 10” table saw today. It belonged to my wifes grandfather and has been sitting in his garage for who knows how long. Music in the shop - 22 replies

I was wondering what others are listening to while working in the shop? As for me its a mix, mostly “classic rock” I dont know how they can call it classic rock as its the stuff I grew up listening to. The mix also includes some country, christian rock and some comedy every now and again.

I have a craftsman 33 gal, oil less, vertical compressor that I am having an issue with. I recently rewired the garage and added numerous outlets, both 110v and 220v, all 20amp, all the wiring is new and sized accordingly. When my compressor turns on it trips the breaker. It is rated at 15 amps and is plugged into a 20amp dedicated circuit. My f...

My first experience with kickback - 16 replies

I was at the table saw yesterday doing what we all do everyday, cross cutting. I am building a small cabinet the LOML and was crosscutting a panel on the cross cut sled. I was squaring one end before cutting to final dimension. I was trimming about an 1/8” off, I pushed the sled through the cut without any problems. The issue occurred afte...

Rockwell bandsaw - 9 replies

I have an opportunity at an older(pre-delta) Rockwell 14” bandsaw and I was curious as to what everyone feels would be fair market value? I am not too sure if it is 3/4 or 1hp, but I am told it is good working condition. If it is 3/4 I will probably pass on it due to the fact I will want to do some resawing with it and 1 hp is about as low...
