What a great afternoon! I was having a blast in the shop when I get the phone call from my buddy and fellow Lumber Jock Cozmo35 trying to get directions to my house. Turns out he was on his way from his home in the Dallas area to his deer camp down in Louisiana and he made a detour through Texarkana to say hi. Let me say that I was tickled to death to have a fellow LJ whom I respect highly to be sitting in my shop just talking shop….
My wife came out and I mentioned to her that Mike is the guy who makes the scroll crosses she has fits over. Just as soon as I got it out of my mouth Mike said “Well I brought you something”..... Mike went out to his truck and brought back two special gifts he made for me. I just want to say I don’t get stunned often and rarely do I get tongue tied, but I was beside myself proud of my new treasures. I mean seriously … Mike went out of his way just to say hi…. Then bring some of his handy work? ......... “What a great afternoon!”
Well, I just had to get on here and do me some bragging. I am so proud to have finally get to shake the hand of Mike and have some of his handy work here at the house….
Ohhh and Mike… You weren’t gone 5 minutes and my bride confiscated the cross….lol
Thanks again my friend… I’m going to have to return the favor soon….

That happened to me when I was about 15. Made good friends with one of my life mentors, Charlie, while visiting my folks in Las Vegas. Went back home to Indiana. One day I was out in the front yard and up pulls this traveling camper pulling a Jeep Cherokee and stops in front of the house. Sure enough, it was Charlie. Passing through and stopped to see me, of all people. Talk about a meaningful and rewarding experience, this one has definitely shaped my life.

Well Dan I think you found the best way to get rid of the “funks” and back in the shop! That was a great story. Two great LJ’s meet up…excellent.

Yea Jeff…. That definitely did the trick for my bad case of the “Funks”.... I woke up this morning still gleaming about yesterdays visit. It is amazing how little things like a friend stopping in to chat can be such a delight. I’m sure I will be talking about it all day….lol
I also want to add how thankful I am to have found this site. I can’t say thanks enough to Martin and everyone else involved for making such a place possible. I have made friends with some extremely talented and insporational people here. In a situation like mine as to where I know no one in my town that wood works it is good to know I have like minded friends just a click away….
