Suggestions for top coat. - 3 replies

I’ve been working on a small cabinet for my bathroom and i decided to use a Transtint dye for the first time. I’m contemplating the finish coats and was considering using Watco spray lacquer. Would I need to seal the piece first or can I simply spray it as is? Is this type of finish even the best way to go with a dye?

Pipes - 2 replies

I’ve been considering switching to smoking a pipe. After doing some initial internet searching I’ve come to realize that it’s not as easy as just picking one up and having at it. Any pipe smokers around that can lend some insight into choosing a quality pipe?

Table Saw Parts Compatability. - 16 replies

A few years back I bought a Ridgid R4511 and it has been a great saw for me. Yesterday after cutting some dados and then re-installing a rip blade I tried to adjust the height. The blade does raise up a bit but then a heard a ‘pop’ and it dropped back down. I though this was odd seeing as how it was working fine up until then. Opened...

Crosscut Sled Quandry - 23 replies

The other day I built a new crosscut sled. I watched the video by William Ng and used his equation to square up the fence. A-B/4/ Length of cut X distance of fence. After plugging in my numbers I get: 1.093 – 1.089 = .004/4 =.001 At this point I’m thrilled. My issue stems from when i plug that number into the rest of ...

Breadboard Ends, are they necessary? - 5 replies

I’m building a small kitchen table (approx. 3’X4’). I’d really like to use hickory for the table top and I know that I can get S4S lumber locally. I’ve never worked with it and I’m a bit concerned about the notorious hardness and difficulty in milling. To combat this I was hoping to minimize as much dimensioni...

Help with found plane? - 11 replies

I found this old Stanley #4 stashed in my garage. It was stashed away in a tool chest that was left behind when I bought the house. I tried searching on-line to figure out the approximate date but I keep getting stuck in a loop and get frustrated. It was in the original box along with it’s manual. I looked for a copy write date on ...

Made in America sale.... - 1 reply

....currently ongoing at Menard’s. I was in the market for some 24” parallel clamps and they have the Jorgen’s on sale for $20.00. Apart from getting what I feel is a good deal on the clamps, I think it’s pretty neat that they have a sale specifically for items made in the U.S.A.
