I Retired in 2015 from IT management. I have been a woodworking hobbyist, focused on power tools and small projects since 1973. Four years back (2015) I began replacing ShopSmith functions with dedicated tools and adding new capabilities and serious dust collection. I still have two ShopSmith 510s in my shop; one is bolted to a shop wall as a dedicated drill press, the other is a ‘shorty’ that powers my magna band saw plus serves as an horizontal drill press. My table saw is the industrial 36” rip fence SawStop. I recently added the cast iron router table with 4” dust collection box, which I highly recommend!
If you ask me why I still have two ShopSmiths the answer is that I find the speed dial on the drill press quite handy. The magna bandsaw is simple, but works fine and I need to drill centered holes in the ends of dowels.
I have a light manufacturing business where I make kitchen and sewing room accessories to sell on Etsy. The stay at home events have been a positive factor on my growth this year. You can review my offerings at breadtechnique.etsy.com
