Ridgid R4511 Table Saw Issues - 3 replies

I was recently given a digital angle gauge which allowed me to see that lowering and raising the blade on my table saw started to tilt the blade from 90 to plus or minus .3 degrees. Also when I tighten my blade tilt wheel it can throw the angle off a few tenths of a degree. Before I acquired this tool I could not tell that the angle would change...

Grizzly Riser Kit: Can they be swapped? - 2 replies

Hey guys, I have a G0555 bandsaw and Im going to upgrade the capacity with the riser kit. My question is if all of the G0555 models (LANV, LX, X) are compatible for one another. I understand the color will be different, also that some models have a rack and pinion style guide bar adjuster. The reason I ask is because the model for the plai...

Carbide Chipping - router bit - 10 replies

Bought this bit a few days ago to plane the surfaces of some boards and that’s all it has been used for. Any idea why it would have chipped towards the top or at all for that matter? Only took passes that we’re no more than a few 16th’s of an inch at a time. Is there some weird stress factor I’m not aware of or did I just...

What on earth could I use these for? - 8 replies

I regularly try to up-cycle scrap material or what would likely end up being thrown away and incorporate it into my shot or work someway or another. I recently started working with my father At a print shop and his press uses these things which are regularly switched out and recycled. They are pretty big and have some weigh to them. All aluminum...

DW735 Planer chain tension spring? - 9 replies

I was cleaning up my planer today and when I took the cover off the side with the height adjustment handle to reveal a feeder chain and belt I noticed there was a spring broken that looks like it was meant to activate a little wheeled lever that put tension on the chain I’m not real sure how long it’s been broken but I’ve be...

After nearly a year now of my shop being dismantled due to moving and then moving again I am finally able to set up shop and again and making wood work. So today my brother took me through one of his friends mothers metal working shops, she’s cleaning it out so i was hoping to find some knick knacks that maybe id be interested in. Boat Building: 12' Flat Skiff - 12 replies

Ive had an old 6hp envinrude in the garage for a while now not being put to good use and I may very likely be getting a small boat trailer through a family friend. So after a few weeks of research I think I’m going to start doing some heavy research and reading on boat building to hopefully start a 12’ skiff build sometime later this...

Woodworking Withdrawl - 2 replies

For the past month or so we have been getting the house ready to sell and most of the clutter and junk we’ve had in other rooms have ended up in the garage… a.k.a the workshop. For me this means the only thing I’ve been making sawdust with is yard sale sign stakes. This has been terribly difficult for me as Ive had so many grea...

Jointer Motor - 11 replies

Through one of my mother’s friends I got a Harbor Freight 8” Jointer for free. Only problem is the motor doesn’t work. I suppose a broken one is better than none at all? Anyway, the man said the motor didn’t even start when he set it up. But He also said he kept the factory oil on for protection when there is a sticker cl...

Cutting 1/2in Glass? - 7 replies

Ive been looking into sharpening my chisels and plane blades lately and I see either granite or glass will do the trick for a good reference surface. So I got a hold of what used to be an outdoor table top ( about 3 1/2’ by 2’) and its either 3/8 or half an inch thick. It’s real heavy so I would like to cut it down to more work...

No Straight Cuts For Me... - 30 replies

Over the last few days I’ve been getting materials together to build a little rolling cabinet for my garage. Not because I need one but just to see if I could. Fact of the matter is, I can’t. I can’t make a straight cut to save my life. I’m not using a table saw because mine is useless. What I am doing is using a 48”...
