No4 - Restoration - Opinion - 12 replies

I’m restoring a No4 Stanley. Nothing special there. However it’s clearly a 1942-45 model due to the black paint left over on the handles. I’m on the fence : do I keep the black to restore it original condition or do I finish the wood “classic” Please give me your opinion !Cheers,

Handplane instruction help, please - 11 replies

I just bought a Stanley 920 block plane. The instruction state “Comes with accurate ground edge of 25°; finishing with an additional honed angle of 30° is recommended”. Can some one translate in English for me ? I realy don’t understand what that mean.Thanks,

Cutting log on band saw. - 13 replies

I keep reading that to be cut log on a band saw the log must be “green” aka wet wood. Any reason why i couldn’t try with dry wood ? I good a tone of maple logs in about 24/26” length that i would like to utilize. Thanks for the input !

6" Jointer wanted - 8 replies

Tired of using warped wood… Therefor looking for a used (not a antique) 6” jointer, good condition. Don’t need to be a top of the line, just straight and working. Can pick up, in a reasonable radius from home.
