A Joy to Use
I have been woodworking for more years than I care to admit. Early on I built a Tage Frid bench with traditional shoulder and tail vises. I never wanted for anything else from a vise, until, after many decades of use both of those vises began to fail. Two years ago I built a new out feed table for a new table saw and outfitted it with a leg vise sporting a Lake Erie screw and the Hovarter scissors. Later I retrofited a 150 mm HNT Gordon Tail vise into that table. The leg vise is nice eno...
Jet 8" Jointer, unboxing, assembly, set-up, & initial use
Last Spring I sold my General 6” Jointer and my Williams & Hussey molder/planer with the intention of buying the Rikon 12” Jointer/Planer Combo. Many disappointments with this router
I already owned a Festool drill, joiner, sander and dust collector before I bought the router, so I was certainly prepared to really like it. So far it has been a series of disappointments. First, when I opened the box many parts had popped loose and were scattered about. I saw a picture of the edge guide but no edge guide in the box. The last two routers I have purchased – Ryobi & Triton- both came with edge and circle guides so I was surprised and dismayed to see that a $570 r...
