Got a set of self centering pilot drills in the other day. They were a good value but just came in a blister pack. Rather than let them rattle around and get damaged / dull / lost I decided to make a little 1-1/2” x 2-3/4” x 5” box to store them in. In my shop about all we discard is sawdust! I gathered some walnut and cherry scraps and came up with this:

Nothing like a quick little project to give me a sawdust fix for the day.

This was built five or six years ago and is still going strong. It has space for spare bits and the two required allen wrenches. The lexan is pitted and scratched and the drill sizes were laser engraved in the edges. It has held up well.

It looks better with age & use! LOL

Nice idea! I’ve got a set of bits that need this…

I haven’t opened my blister pack yet because I know it will be a problem keeping them together. I like this idea.

What a great project Mark. I’m still storing mine in the leather pouch they came in. I’ve had to replace the springs in them at least once.

Have your say...
