Slant Top Desk Build

I posted a blog entry earlier about gluing up thin panels for a frame-and-panel back for a slant top desk I’m building. The back is complete and I’ve been working on the web frame for the drawers and the interior of the desk. I’ve cut and fitted the drawer dividers and runners. I have joined the top to the sides with half blind dovetails and I’ve glued up the panel for the writing surface. Installing the writing surface was a challenge. It is joined to the sides with housed sliding dovetails. The fit is snug, so sliding it into place with glue was no small feat. I found that long parallel clamps are my friend.
