I'm reaching retirement age and I have decided to take up woodworking full time. I have dabbled in it at various times over the years. I just finished up a 30 year career as a software developer. Before that I was in law enforcement both civilian and U.S. Army Military Police. I'm married with 4 adult kids in their early to late twenties.

My youngest daughter just moved to a new apartment the first week of the new year and wanted to make some furnishings out of pallets. That was all it took to light the embers for me taking up woodworking again. My oldest son and I also built her a farm table and bench for the apartment.

Unfortunately, after I closed up my last garage woodworking shop my son took over the garage with tires, wheels and auto parts for his various cars. I have a major garage cleanup to do before I can do much woodworking. I sold off the table saw and some other large tools about 15 years ago but I kept the smaller stuff and some of the bench top tools.

My interest is in Craftsman/Mission furniture building. I am a big fan of Gustav Stickley and the whole Arts and Crafts movement. I want to build farm style tables to sell for extra income and to build mission style furniture for the family and to sell. After a career in law enforcement and software development, I really want to simplify my lifestyle. My goal is a hybrid shop with power tools for the grunt stuff and hand tools for the finesse work. I like the serenity of working with my hands.

I plan to document the new shop process in my blog. This may take a while but I always get where I want to go.
