I am an amateur woodworker who finds that I enjoy the "quiet" of the planer after a long day's work. I like turning pens, projects for my wife and kids, and challenging myself with new and harder projects.
I look forward to learning from the amazing amount of knowledge on this site!
Adding more now that I have more time.
I started woodworking when I got married just over 10 years ago. My grandparents gave us a 10x10 outbuilding as a wedding gift, so needless to say, the first hour and last hour of any day's work was me carrying my tools out and setting them up in the yard.
After a couple of years, my wife and I purchased an abandoned historical home and spent 2 years making it livable (during which time I started and finished graduate school and our first child was born). As we worked on the new house, we planned for a garage, but money ran out. I held on, though, and shortly after our second child was born, I began building the garage and shed. It took a couple of years because I refused to borrow money for it and truthfully had no idea what I was doing, but it's finally as finished as it has to be right now. And I'm able to pick my hobby back up and I have found that I can lose track of time in there breathing sawdust!
I have enjoyed looking through projects and blogs. I know that I'll never catch up but the site is easy to search, so as I think of an interest, I seem to be able to find plenty.
Thanks everybody!

Welcome. You have found the right place for woodworking. A great group of people willing to help. Looking forward to see your projects and comments. Work safe in the shop and don’t forget to use pushsticks.

Welcome aboard! A nice looking yarn hutch, my wife may NEED one of those also, that’s a good thing, I need another project. I see you are located in NC, we lived there many years ago, Jacksonville, in my military service days, we enjoyed it very much. Your garage/workshop looks great too, job well done.

Thanks everyone! My problem is going to be how to keep from getting fired for not getting any work done!
Jeff— headed toward your old stomping grounds this week. Topsail is calling my name.
