My shop is a simple and cozy one built into a small spare bedroom that measures 12’ by 8’. The doors are sealed with weather stripping and an exhaust fan built for the window sucks the majority of airborne dust out. There will soon be a miniature central dust collection system. I have two workbenches, each 2’ x 8’, that fit together in an L shape in the back corner. Any tools that create large amounts of dust, such as the Sliding Compound Miter Saw, Table Saw (believe it or not, it fits) Scroll Saw, Sanders, etc, go closest to the exhaust fan. The other holds my shop built drill press and shop built lathe. Both have lumber and project storage underneath. A large picture window runs the entire length of the room, with a view of the snow covered mountainside, or fern covered, depending on the season :-) Snow for six months of it, it’s beautiful! On the wall a French cleat system is going in. My most recent addition to the shop family is a Dewalt DW734 Thickness Planer I got for an $80 discount at Lowe’s.
