Clamp it Shut with the "V"!

Boys and Girls, Before you venture further, some of the following text may be questionable to some… If you are sensitive, please exit now and don’t go crying to Cricket because of your forthcoming curiosity. Initially, I was anxious to pass on my brainwashing, however, was concerned about my tenure here at LJ due to some blaspheming about sideways picture… Staying on top, and determined not to be under turd… I am pressing on… though it may earn a “go to jail” from the publishers. If ...

Light my Life

Light my Life

Boys and Girls, I was bragging about my dexterity about punching numbers into a combination locks when the subject of this torch arose… Not going to crap on like I normally do (let’s see that when I hit the [SEND] button)… I came across these little 9V battery driven torches at one of my local hardware (Gippsland Bearings, Morwell) outlet. It is a 2 or 6 gang (button selected) LED lights powered by a “standard” 9V battery. Those that may ask ”How many lume...

VERITAS Optical Centre Punch

VERITAS Optical Centre Punch

Boys and Girls, I have quite a few dodgy items in my workshop as no-one has written a review prior to me purchasing… or I was too lazy to do a search! As it’s not fair to review my own jigs, for your edification I thought I might take the time to review this Veritas offering that I received as a Christmas present and Santa wasn’t successful in reversing the inappropriate delivery. Now most of my scribes and centre punches seem to have tolerances in the caliber of 1/16”+. If you don&...

Abranet Sanding Discs

Boys and Girls, I was abhorred to read that there is at least one person out there in the woodworking community that hasn’t even heard of Abranet sanding discs let alone use it.Well there is a product I haven t heard of abranet I will go look iit up and educate myself.I shall avoid all temptations of identification to preclude embarrassing the author…. Now don’t get Abranet confused with Abralon sanding pads, which is foam backed sanding pads/disks. There are many brands of Ab...

Woodpeckers Dado Set-Up Fixture

Woodpeckers Dado Set-Up Fixture

12-12-2019 06:17 AM by LittleBlackDuck | 9 comments »

Boys and Girls, I have recently reviewed my Freud 8” Dial-a-Width Dado set and vented my spleen about the crappy box packaging in my Freud Dial-a-Width Dado box insert. Tied up with those articles is my purchase of the Woodpecker Dado Set-Up Fixture packaged with two different sizes of their Gap Gauges, I would like to emphasise that as well as being a techno/gadgets freak, I am an avid fan of the Woodpecker’s aluminium tools. It’s like I picture Yankee $1 and $100… the both may...

Boys and Girls, One of the better things of evaluating an item many months after purchase, you tend to forget the often exorbitant price you paid for it.. if it works. As I’ve given this item 5 stars it goes without saying that I do not begrudge the cost. I had to order it form USA and I did begrudge the $111.00 shipping cost, however, Amazon did advertise free shipping at the time (… even internationally) and they refunded my shipping cost after being challenged. I decided to review t...

Do you use and break small drill bits?

Do you use and break small drill bits?

06-20-2019 11:52 AM by LittleBlackDuck | 20 comments »

Boys and Girls, This may not be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s why I’ve refrained from giving it 5 stars. If you don’t use small drill bits (1mm bit mounted in mini-chuck) then it won’t concern you and if you reach the end of this article, you’d have wasted some of your valuable time and maybe even some of mine… but if you do indulge… the chances of a bent or broken .5mm to 4mm drill bit will be greatly reduced… may even work for the equivalent imperial bits. If y...

Pop Rivet gun for small hands

Pop Rivet gun for small hands

Boys and Girls, This cannot be a proper duck tail without digressing from the crux of the topic. I had this penchant to procure one of these cordless inflators, to accompany my new shiny red Honda CRV… (OK… I know this is the wrong product… just bear with me). Unfortunately it was only a skin and the seldom seen penny pinching side of me emerged and I was adverse to spending a small fortune for a charger and two batteries (I believe one MUST have a backup battery...

Festool Mobile Systainer Base/Cart

Festool Mobile Systainer Base/Cart

Boys and Girls, For a comprehensive review, one must set the atmosphere… and if you don’t need to breathe, scroll down to the first picture of the mobile base (about 1/2 way down… but then you wont know what I was talking about). Years ago I was like a lot of you LJers and avoided Fe$tool like the plague because of it$ price tag$. However years ago back in 2008 when I was young and naive, I bought a Makita Cordless 4 Mode Impact Driver (BTP140) for $830… yep $830 fo...
