There’s still enough time left to put together a few toys before Christmas. Both of the woodworking clubs I belong to contribute home-made wooden toys to ‘special’ children each year. Some go to Baptist Children’s Home, Children’s Cancer Center, poverty workers , homeless mothers, etc. – and some to a ‘Shoe Box’ operation that includes them in packages to our military personnel overseas for local children – hopefully making a friend out of a potential enemy.
Here is a photo of the toys I made for one of the clubs this year. Last year that club contributed over two thousand toys.
This year I hosted a workshop toy-making session for the other club. We had a great time working together in a good cause. Here are the toys several other members and I made that day.
I know many other clubs have similar toy projects. If yours does, I urge you to be a part of it – if not, try to get one started. If you don’t belong to a club, you can still do it on your own – there are plenty of places that will welcome your gifts. However it happens, you will be blessed.
