So I am trying to fill a request from a family member. He wants a pen & pencil to go into a desk set that he made in shop class when he was a kid. It has 2 funnels on it and I am making the longer, closed end style pen that just seats in the funnel. Something like this. Now the pen is no problem. Take a slimline kit, throw away the clip a...

Okay, I am getting highly irritated with this planer. Don’t get me wrong it works great….when it runs! The stupid on board circuit breaker CONSTANTLY trips. I don’t take deep cuts, 1/64”-1/32” cuts. We are talking a 1/4 – 1/3 turn at a time. This stupid thing trips about every 3 or 4 boards. Safety police stop...

Does anyone have a picture of this table? - 2 replies

It has been a few weeks ago but somewhere I had seen a picture of a table. I can not remember if it was a dining or coffee table but the legs of the table seem to have come straight out of the wood flooring. It did not look like it was made to appear that way but it actually looked like they took the flooring itself and bent the wood to curve up...

Entertainment center design lumber selection question - 9 replies

I have been trying to decide for a month or so now how I am going to go about building a new entertainment center for my living room. I have finally decided that I am going to go with a maple/cherry combo. Although I wish I had the money to do the entire thing out of solid wood it is just not going to be feasible for me. I am going to have to us...

Well, I have this thing sitting around my garage doing nothing but wasting precious space. I am in the middle of redoing my garage since my big Craigslist haul and I’m not quite sure I need this. It is a Jet Brushdrum sander but unlike most that have a flap sander on one end it just has 2 drums. I find that due to the size of the drums and...

Boxes, boxes and more boxes ... not the ones you make though - 18 replies

How many of you all keep the boxes that your tools came in? I prefer to keep my tools in the boxes they came in especially the ones I don’t use on a regular basis but it creates a storage nightmare. I would like to have stations with drawers where everything was right where you needed it at the time without fumbling through boxes. If I do ...

Which Planer? - 18 replies

Well I am having a debate with myself. I unfortunately will not have the money to spend on a nicer planer than these choices so I have to go with what I can afford. Should I build something to convert this into a drum sander? - 5 replies

I have this JET brushdrum sander sitting in my garage. I was wondering what you all thought.
