Part 1: Starting the glue up

I am starting another pyrography turning project. This is a segmented vase that will have a pattern and small pictures burned as part of the design. We will see how it goes.

Part 2: Top & bottom halves

Today I finished turning both halves and then glued them together. After the glue dried I finished turning the final shape and cleaned up the glue joint on the inside. Next step will be to layout the pattern for the wood burning design.

Part 3: Drawing & burning the pattern

Spent a good portion of one day drawing and then burning the pattern on this vase.The pattern is continuous around the circumference.

Part 4: Coloring the design

After burning in the design I sanding those areas with 220 grit paper to clean it up. Then I started coloring with the ink markers. Completed the top half in about an hour.

Part 5: Burning completed

All the wood burning has been completed. Need to finish up some coloring on the bottom half and then spray a finish.

Part 6: Applying the sealer

This will be the last entry for this blog. Today I applied some sealer; inside and out.Next steps will be to sand with 400 grit and spray a satin finish.
