Unique Segmented form #1: Gluing the pieces

I am trying to make a similar segmented turning as the one originally done by Bruce Meldrum (from a YouTube video).
I am using maple and walnut.
There will be 16 layers glued to the center core.

The concept is fairly easy but cutting the angles on the table saw is challenging. I might have to figure out how
to use the bandsaw to cut the remaining layers.

I haven’t been able to find any information to describe how the original piece was made. This will be a “learn as you go” project.
