Paduak & Maple vase #1: Preparing the rings

I tried a new design element on the wedgie sled. I made “complementary” angles out of maple. This gives an unique look with the maple pieces having wide and narrow ends alternating as shown. I only did this for the first 3 rings. The remainder just have 1/4” thick maple pieces. I added black veneer for added contrast.

I can’t wait to see how this turns out. Should look interesting with the different thickness of maple.
