Segmented Pyrography Design #1: Overview of a segmented pyrography project.

I found a crochet pattern that I thought would make an interesting pattern on a turning. First step is to make the rings. 12 segments per ring made with soft maple. Soft maple is very white compared to most other woods and will contrast nicely with the burned pattern lines. The turning will be made in two halves which makes it much easier to shape the inside. After the two halves are glued together I finish shaping the outside and the top. Now it is time to transfer the design onto the wood. I used graphite paper to trace the design. Now it’s just a matter of following the design with a couple of different pyrography pens. This will take some time. ...
