no previous part Part 1 of Starrett Combination Squares series no next part

I bought a 12” Starrett combination square a while back. I’ve had other brands but decided to spend the big bucks on this one. I love it! But I rarely need the full 12” blade. Is the 6” blade interchangeable with the head from the 12” square. I would think so but wanted to see what fellow lumberjocks say. Thanks.

I have both squares. Mine are not interchangeable. The blade on the 12” is wider than the 6” which means the slot in the blade for the handle won’t line up.

12” Starrett combos have “full size” heads and you can interchange the 12”, 18” & 24” rules.

The 6” combos have a smaller size head and as noted by Earl, the rules don’t swap with the 12” and longer ones.
