Spinnekop (windmill) #13: Foundation

I mixed up my post so #13 and #14 are not in chronological order

This mill has a concrete base and brick stone walls. According to annotations on the drawing the mill wasn’t built like this. It had a stone foundation and the screw housing was made of wood. I will be making my model like this.


starting with meranti. It’s almost the color of brickwork.


Using the CNC to make a brick pattern on the wood


Parts of the wall have arche


Cutting the bevels


Test fitting the parts


Fitting nice together


After the bandsaw sanding the parts flush


Gluing the parts together


Testing the fit 


The walls of the “waterloop”, the part of the mill where the water that was pumped will exit


Adding mortises.


Some finishing details


Gluing it all togheter


The lower parts of the foundations glued


Adding a dowel


And a hole in the pillar so they can be connected together but still be detachable

For now no different between part 12 and 13.
