Part 1: Stanley Bedrock 605C Jack Plane

02-27-2015 05:48 PM by Jeff | 5 comments »

Any of you guys like to hit the estate sales looking for used tools? I have recently started going to Estate Sales instead of garage sales. There seems to be more valuable “junk” at the Estate Sales. Sometimes you can find good deals if you get there first. Sometimes you pass someone walking out the door when you are walking in with the item you wanted to buy. And sometimes you find a killer deal like I did last weekend on this hand plane. Here is my latest find. ...

Part 2: Craftsman 22" Jointer Plane

02-28-2015 08:10 PM by Jeff | 5 comments »

Went to an Estate Sale Thursday and found this Craftsman 22” long jointer hand plane. I did not have one of this type, so I got it and the one shown here . I can’t find any markings on the Craftsman other than “Made in the USA”. It is in good shape except for a small chip on the front that should not effect the performance.

Part 3: - Delta Milwaukee 6" Jointer

Super excited about the deal I got today! So what did I find this morning as I went to a few Estate sales? An awesome 6” Delta Rockwell Jointer with a 3/4 hp motor. I have been wanting a jointer, but did not have the funds to go out and buy something new. I didn’t want a desktop jointer, reviews seems mixed, and I do not have room for a larger floor model. Here are my finds for last week:2 – Irwin screwdrivers3 – Stanley No. 60 chiselsVaughan ball pein hammerVaughan soft face hammerWilton 4” viseAnd the coolest thing was the putty knife/spatula made by the Ontario Knife Company. It is very well made with a dovetailed walnut handle. I really like the old wood handled tools. They are fun to restore and make them look like new. And they work well. I got a great deal and everything you see was Made in America.

Part 5: Why I go...

11-06-2015 07:29 PM by Jeff | 7 comments »

OK, this is why I go to Estate sales. You never know what you will find or what kind of deal you might be able to negotiate. Today was definitely worth my time. I found this Bessy KBK2440 clamp set, brand new, in the box for $30.00! Retail these would probably be close to $200.00.

Part 6: Stanley hand drill and a few other items

Picked these items up at an Estate sale for $3 total. A Stanley No. 60 chisel, Buck Brothers gouge, Apex sawset and a Stanley No. HI220 hand drill. Not sure if I will ever use the sawset, but now I have one. I did a little restoration on the hand drill. Now it works perfectly smooth and looks like new.
