Hello everyone! My name is Jared I am In search of any wood working classes or groups/guilds in the Akron /Canton area in ohio. If any of you have any information on that I would greatly appreciate it. I have just recently got into woodworking about 2 years ago and I’m at the point where I could really use a teacher or a group to help further my education. Everything I know has been self taught from a book or video and I feel learning from a person or group could be beneficial to me. Anyways I am 27 and I have a deep passion and love for woodworking and want to learn everything I possibly can So any help would be amazing. I hope I am posting this right as this is my first post sorry if I’m doing this wrong!

Welcome to Lumberjocks

If you were in South Dakota, I would say to come on over.

Welcome Jayrod, but I’m not in Ohio so can’t help with suggestions for classes there. If you venture to Indiana, there’s Marc Adams.

Welcome to Ljs Enjoy! If you can’t find a class locally try an online class, like Charles Neil’s “Mastering Woodworking”. He also has lots of You Tube videos.

I remember seeing something on this site a while back about a N.E. Ohio woodworking club.
Try This

Jared, I am from the Dover area. I know there is a Meet-up group in the Akron/Canton area that meet roughly once a month for various reasons. I have yet to find any good classes yet. Although Woodcraft in Cleveland does hold frequent classes.

Wow thank you everyone for being so helpful I knew posting on here would be a great idea. I am signed up for a 2 day wood working class at the wood craft in Cleveland. It’s a shaker style from beginning to finish I’m hoping this will jump my skills a bit. I will check out the info everyone has posted. I am going to post some of my beginner projects here shortly.

Have your say...
