Delivery Frustrations!

I placed an order with Home Depot for the Delta T3 table saw fence on January 17th. I was told estimated delivery was the 26th, then I was told that it would be by the 31st. However, I just saw that they have switched it to “by Feb. 5th”. I also noticed that there are two departure scans from two different places, one from Illinois on the 24th and one from California on the 29th, so there are apparently two separate pieces for the delivery.

I am just frustrated that they switch around the dates and ship pieces from different states days apart from each other. We put a man on the moon but we can’t deliver a package by a specified date? I really have to wait over two weeks to receive an item that was listed as “in stock”? I paid for shipping and handling, get me my darned package!

I know I should just be glad that I am able to order something over the Internet and have it delivered to my doorstep, but it is difficult to be thankful when you are eager to get your new piece of kit. Rant over.

There are others on this forum who are much more up-to-date on these issues, but my understanding is that Delta is kinda out of business? The Unisaw was a fine piece of equipment and a used one is still highly sought after. But the current state of Delta is questionable.

They are still in business, their reputation has suffered due to various things, though. One of those reasons is worsening customer service from what I hear. Also an increasing lack of quality product. The T3 fence is supposed to be good though.

Cancel the order and reward a better company with the work, if you can.

Ian,

Don’t look at this negatively. Maybe you’ll have a similar experience to us. We had a Black & Decker toaster oven that quit during warranty. They shipped another one and a few days later we got a second one. When I called to let them know that we had gotten two, they told us to just keep it. Evidently, it triggered another entry on their computer and a few days later we got three more. I quit trying to tell them they had made a mistake!

A few years later we had Black & Decker’s most expensive coffeemaker (a gift). It was virtually unpourable so I called and complained. I waited several days and didn’t get a response so I emailed. Then I got responses from both locations. They each sent me the same coffeemaker again (which they told me to keep). I told them I didn’t want one that couldn’t pour and was willing to wait for the redesigned one. Meantime, they sent me another to use until the redesign was available. It wasn’t the one that they said they would send so I told them. They wanted to send a different one and I said “no” and they actually listened. When the new design was released, I received two more coffeemakers.

Maybe you’ll get a fence from each location! If you call again to cancel, maybe it will trigger another order!! Just don’t give them your credit card number!
