no previous part Part 1 of Large Roubo Frame Saw series Part 2: stretchers complete. rough draft assembly just to get a look at what can be »

My Roubo frame saw kit (unsharpened and holes pre-drilled) arrived over the weekend from Blackburn Tools & Isaac Smith, thanks to Shannon Rodgers inspiration. I want to see how this saw can benefit my wood working experience. Will this be a valid replacement for a Laguna 14/12 $1000 bandsaw? Let’s find out…. Wow…look at that 4” x 48” 3 1/2” PPI blade :) Impressive!
I purchased 8’ board of 8/4 white oak (a species I’ve never dabbled with before). Using my saw bench, I crosscut a 26” piece for front/rear handles and start doing some hand planing and winding sticks for today.

You’ll love it! I bet you’ll find the band saw a hard sell after using the frame saw a few times.

Have your say...
