I hope it is good also. There are a bunch of us former 20 and 30 somethings, long ago it seems, that spent the week waiting for Norm to appear on Sunday afternoons, at least on the Texas PBS stations.

Now there is a new crop of 20 and 30 somethings that I think Tommy can attract and influence. Looking back, Norm introduced us to a lot of new tools and techniques. But even Norm was somewhat crude in his techniques on occasion. Woodworking has come a long way with more specialized, portable and accessible equipment. Remember Norm’s little 6” jointer and lunchbox planer. Not that there is anything wrong at all with a 6” jointer, it just looks so small by today’s standards.

It will be interesting to see what type of projects Tommy builds. Hopefully he is in good hands with Boston PBS. A big part of Norms success was the great production crew that filmed, scripted and edited his show, and Norm’s easygoing but thoughtful and capable manner didn’t hurt. Tommy needs to understand that woodworking is only part of it, presentation is the rest.

GOOD LUCK TOMMY. I’ll be watching (if my local PBS picks the show up).
