It’s been a mixed bag for me as the title suggests…

I’ve finally gotten to the point where I’ve made the room to where these tools won’t be in my way during the shop build and purchased some new tools. A 735 planer, laguna 1412 bandsaw and a cutex 6 inch bench jointer.

Have made a few shop upgrades…installed an air hose with a lighted switch for the air compressor to let me know when it’s on. Got tired of getting the cr*p scared out of me at 5am in the shop having coffee before work and having the air compressor kick on.

Made a shelf out of sanded plywood for frequently used tools. First time using edge banding and wipe on poly.

Made my first bandsaw box. I haven’t used a bandsaw since shop class in high school, 32 years ago!
First time using tung oil. Used wipe on poly. Learned a lot on this. Sanded way to much on the inside of the box and outside of the drawer. I dont have a mentor or anyone to teach me so I learn from YouTube videos and trial and error.
I learned to watch as many videos as you can, then adapt to your own style. There seems to be a lot of not so practical instruction on you tube. I’m having g a blast though. Soaking it all up, making notes, etc.

I have a couple more glued up and ready to go for more practice.

I saw this tip in wood magazine where they cut a paint roller In half and then placed it on their spindle sander to buff with. I tried this. Waxed the bandsaw box and then when the wax was dried, buffed it out. It fit perfectly
and worked very well.

Why does everybody’s shop look so much neater than mine? Very nice.

Thanks Andy…Unfortunately, I have severe allergy issues so a cleaner shop is a must for me. Trust me, I’d much rather be working than cleaning.
