The other day while tuning up my Wood River smoothing bench plane I noticed that its tote (handle) was cracked.

I called Woodcraft’s customer service number to see if they had a template or technical drawing in case I was forced to make a replacement. They did not have a template or a drawing. And, they did not have replacement totes for sale. I also could not find any replacement totes on the Woodcraft online store.

To my surprise they mailed me a new one for no charge. Thank you. That impressed me.

My #4 plane has its new tote.

you have got to be happy with that.

Now next step 1. make a technical drawing 2. make a template 3. Make heaps of wood shavings!!

I am a happy guy because I am a lucky man. Why? Cause I have a good woman at home. Just look at what she has let me do in this woodshop. And, that is not all. It is not about possessions. It is falling in love with a beautiful person who is that inside and out. It is about sharing a life together as equal partners, spouses.. I certainly am a lucky and happy man; especially when I first met my Annie nearly 26 years ago. Was it luck? Fate? Or God sent? Whatever, it was a perfect match, at least for me.
