The success of this project was dependent on mitering the support arms for the shelves at a complementary angle to the taper on the post. In this way, the shelves would “wedge” themselves onto the post when they reached the correct height. I have completed the arms for the top shelf and I am very satisfied with the result. The shelf is stable and requires no fasteners.

I will make support arms for all the other shelves, and then its just final sanding and I can call this one complete.
