Finally got some shop time this week. It’s been difficult this last month to get out. Lots of health problems in the family and my office moved to a new location – further away from home so my commute is longer.

Then I got into make this project on the scroll saw and it’s been taking longer than expected. It’s a box with a turtle shape. It’s a birthday present and just one of those deals where it would have been nice to have read ALL the magazine article on the project before starting. sigh…

I glued too many layers together at one time and cutting the main box has been a pain. The scroll saw blade like to bend on wood this think and it’s far to easy to get a concave cut. And it burnt the wood where I got impatient. Well it’s been a great learning experience and next time I’ll be better prepared.
Here are a couple of pictures of where I am on this one:

Glad to hear you’re back in the shop again.

At times our bodies just refuse to allow us the pleasures we enjoy and sometimes our meds make it unsafe to work with those sharp tools but inbetween the worst times, getting into the shop is a reward for the pain-in-the-arse of getting older.
My arthritis does not bode well in these cold Indiana winters and C.O.P.D slows me to a crawl. I do feel somewhat lifted, on the better days, when I can spend some time with the wood, sounds as though you do to.

Looks like you’ve got that Turtle up and running, good luck with the progress of both your project and your health issues.

Best Regards. – Grandpa Len
