Question on turning crotch blank - 10 replies

Hi,A very dear friend of my wife died recently. This friend loved Birch trees. I want to turn memorial Birch bowls for my wife, two other close friends and the woman’s son. The photo shows three pieces that I want to use. Three of them are pretty straight forward to trim and get ready for turning. I have never turned anything with a crotch ...

Suggestions for turning this blank into a vase - 16 replies

About two years ago I had to cut down a large bush. I saved the base that looked like it would make an interesting vase. It’s been sitting in the shop ever since. Shopsmith dado arbor and sawblades - 10 replies

Hi, this is for any Shopsmith owners. I have a Shopsmith, which is not my usual tablesaw, but now I need to use it. I had my SS blades sharpened and seem to have temporarily (I hope) misplaced the arbor. I have the dado arbor which has a 5/8 arbor. SS says that this arbor is not for saw blade use but I am in a bind. I don’t need to cut a lo...
