no previous part Part 1 of Table Saw Troubles series no next part

I have been building simple outdoor furniture out of pallets and salvage lumber. Sold dozens of pieces on Etsy, Craigslist, and my front yard. So I got a bigger, badder table saw off CL. The first time I ran it (in my shop), I had to put on my hearing protection right away – the high-pitched whine was unbearable!
It wasn’t long before it started to try and seize, causing the breaker to trip, and the lights to flicker.
So I thought I would just use my little contractor saw, also a Craftsman, to build a work bench, with drawers.
It turns out that making box joints, and using dimensioned wood to create furniture-grade assemblies is much more demanding than potting benches and park benches, out of raw pallet wood!
So production on two custom-orders has stopped until I get the motor back from the repair shop, with new bearings.

I am sorry to hear of your troubles.

Keep at it and you will develop the skills to produce furniture-grade projects.

And welcome to LumberJocks!

Yes, a good tablesaw makes all the difference.

Hey Gaucho, Welcome to LJ’s
Salvaged lumber is very popular here on LJ’s, but in all my travels I have never seen a salvage tree growing … must be some kind of import …

Sorry about your table saw, but with a newly rebuilt motor it should stop screeching and start singing.
How about some pictures of your work? I’d love to see them
