Do we have a category or blog link here for woodworking songs? If not I suggest we add one. I'm sure there are some out there that I have missed.
This is another Beatles wood song
The remastered version at Amazon is well worth the price now at $12.99
Speaking of Peter Paul and Mary, Littlecopes post above. Take a look at this video. This is Paul Stooky of the group singing 'wedding song'. Most people know it. The interesting thing is that he's a citizen of Camden, Maine. When I was in Luthiery school there in 1976, the guitar he's playing in this video came in (with him) for repair. I and another guy got to sort of assist in the repair. The neck was replaced. The builder and instructor was Nicholas Appolonio. The guitar is a 12 string with a bowed triangular shape. It's also the guitar Stookey is singing about in the song "Sebastian" if anyone knows it.
If you ever get to Maine and travel up the coast a bit, stop into the Camden, Rockport area. It's a quaint, touristy, by the sea, sailing sloop town. Within a few blocks of walking you can visit, numerous boat builders, guitar makers, a harpsichord builder, and a cello maker to name a few. A very cool place.
What a cool story, Craftsman, and great videos! I particularly like the Woody Woodpecker one!
I'll second your description of the Maine coastline. It's one of the least known, but most beautiful areas in the world. Though I've never been to the Camden area, my family used to vacation in York, and we took numerous day trips up and down Rte 1. Quaint and picturesque are the working words there! I live in New Hampshire, but my heart remains in Maine…
Woody Woodpecker, I'll have to add it to my favorites, along with If I Had A Hammer.
How about Songs From The Wood, Jethro Tull. Young members have probably never heard this.
