Since I've been doing more and more cabinet and furniture work than construction type activities, I feel it may be time to invest in a cabinet saw. Space is an issue. I currently have a Bosch 4000 with the gravity rise stand which has been perfect, except for cutting hardwood and the fence isn't all that great.
Could I make improvements to my Bosch better or move up to a cabinet saw. My price range is around $1000 and what is the best saw in that price range.
I own a Delta contractor tablesaw. However, if I was looking for a cabinet saw for under $1000, I would definitely consider one of the Grizzly tablesaws. For instance, you might want to consider the G1023SL.
I'm running a Jet and couldn't get along without it. If you're in business, this might be a place where debt will pay off. If you have to produce, a top quality cabinet saw is a necessity. I only wish I had a 14 inch instead of a 10.
I would say if you think you will use it, spring for the cabinet saw instead of spending more time and money on the contractors saw. I agree with Tom about a Unisaw in Craigslist. A used saw will be a lot better quality in your price range. The best thing is that since you already have a saw you can afford to wait for the perfect deal.
all i will offer here is better saw = better cabinets . clik on pulse and look for the topic begining woodworking how to spend 1000.00 and youll find many opinions along the same lines as your question
I have a Grizzly 1023 and think it's a great table saw. Best $1000 I've ever spent, in my opinion. I might change that soon when I buy a Jet 22/44 Drum sander. Did I mention I hate sanding by hand.
