Location: DeKalb, Texas

So glad to be here. Wish I had found this place a long time ago. Lots of interesting stuff here. Sure takes time to see it all. Current is some kind of a dang box. Don't know what it will be...just doing what pops into my head. Made of red oak. Tried to eboize legs and inside of drawer with india ink. Didn't work for me. Tried water based acrylic artist paint. Clogged the grain. Mixed the two to a syrup great. Real black but the grain shows thru. Also doing a necklace case for my wife. Looks like a medicine cabinet (sort of) with a wall picture as the door. Hangs in her bathroom. Building some saddle racks for a friend. Also restoring two antique endtables and one old cedar chest. When I get tired of working on one, I move to the next.
I work in a hospital - director of emergency services, safety & security. Keeps me busy. Wood is my xanax. Lost a huge red oak tree in my front pasture 3 years ago. Kept some of it and split it on the quarter. Sure is pretty wood. Looks like ribbons running thur. Recently got a pecan tree from a friend. It was blown over in his pasture. He was going to burn it. Hope to be chatting with some of you...gary

Welcome to lumber jocks! I spend a lot of time on this site because it is such a great source of wood working advice. The projects, forums and videos are helpful and you can find the help for the level of skill that you are at. There are some folks on here that I can only dream of doing the work they do. I really like this site. I hope you enjoy it as well.
