My little girl lost her old doll house in the flood. It was a hand me down from her mother built by her grandfather decades ago. We decided to start a new tradition and build a family doll house or attempt too. We went to Hobby Lobby and selected a dollhouse look she liked. We got the basic measurements off the box.
We started laying out the doll house. It will be 18” deep x 24” wide x 30” high with three stories. She is helping me get the lines just right before cutting. We did a bunch of rabbit and dado cuts tonight. This puppy will have 13 windows! She wanted lots of windows. She thinks it is for her birthday in March and I am going to try and surprise her for Christmas. I snuck out after she stopped to put in a couple more hours of work designing clapboards and starting all those cuts.

A great gift for a little girl and this one is very cute. I know she will love it. A well built doll house can easily become a generational thing. I built a dollhouse for my granddaughter when she was 4 years old. As a teenager, she loaned it to one of her girl friends little sister, who played with it for several years and then returned it some years ago, still in like new condition. My granddaughter is now 23 years old and I hope she has a daughter who can take it over.

Awesome project. Family teamwork is precious.
Was it Harvey, Florence, or which storm?

A dollhouse is always the perfect gift, not only for girls but for boys too. Let their creativity run wild with their own kind of toys to be placed inside the ample storage inside. They need to be given the platform to explore the variety of toys instead of being glued to technological screens.
