I am not an advanced woodworker. I started out of necessity, I could not afford a bookcase at ikea so I borrowed a circular saw and found some plywood in a neighbors trash and built one myself. Someone liked it and I made another one for them. They paid me with a box store gift card which I used to buy my own saw. Next thing you know I have a garage full of tools! I only build projects for my friends and family, except one time I built an Adirondack chair for my church and it was auctioned for $400! My projects are usually very simple but extremely sturdy. No ornate moldings or carvings just simple roundover edges or joints.
