Born and raised in Idaho, worked for the local school district in buildings and grounds for ...oh...a hundred years or so. Gave that up and did caretaking on the Oregon coast for awhile. Retired and bought a home in Ecuador. After a few years of that I decided a guy can only sit on the porch and watch the hummingbirds for so long. So I got a job as a caretaker of a mountain community in the Colorado Rockies. Plenty of time to roam over 700+ acres of beautiful forest and collect wood that speaks to me as I wander past. As my good friend and neighbor puts it, trees that have lived a good, long and sometimes rough life can be given another 50 or even 100 years life through unique wood projects. I take home unique pieces and usually let them set until they speak to me and tell me what wonderful project they might be best suited for....sometimes it works and sometimes I get lots of woodworking practice and end up with a nice piece of firewood for those chilly winter evenings. I like working with natural, rustic pieces as much as possible but use dimensional lumber too, preferably recycled / barn wood. After 10 great years in Colorado I am now retired to the Willamette National Forest in Oregon. Oh, there's lots of wood here. I will have an operational shop again soon and you will be seeing much more of me here on LumberJocks.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.
God Bless

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself a little over a year ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…
Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…
