Well, I looked for an introduction area but, finding none, I though I’d just post in an off-topic area. I’m recently semi-retired after 30+ years in the entertainment industry. Married for 21-years, my wife and I are building our retirement home (that sounded alot better in my head) and a shop building on our property in the Acton/Agua Dulce of Los Angeles County to care for our horses but until then, I’m in the same 3-car garage we’ve been in for 2 decades. After 50+ years of woodworking as a hobby with the assorted hand tools and a well-outfitted Shopsmith MkV, I added welding to the things at which I’m barely proficient with a Lincoln 180 MIG and off-brand TIG, stick and plasma cutter. I’m building Precision Plasma/Flashcut-based 4X4 CNC table with Hypertherm65 torch whose gantry also accepts a 2.25hp router, all of which, amazingly, fits neatly into our current garage space with enough room left over to park the wife’s SUV and my Harley. Well, it did wiht a custom 2X2, self contained, PlasmaCam-based unit so we’ll see about the 4X4. Should be OK. Finally, I’ve left alot of boards because of peoples’ seemingly unquenchable thirst for denigrating others like me who are doing the best we can and ask questions only to learn. I defended this country for 7 years before a medical separation and have defended its people out of uniform for as long as I can remember and I simply won’t abide folks who write things that they’d never have the fortitude to say to them face-to-face. After a week on here, I haven’t found a single, purposely hurtful posting and because of that, and the fact that individually and collectively, you all have forgotten more than I’ll ever know, I’ve decided to introduce myself, help where I can and seek counsel when I’m stuck. Thank you for that opportunity and for having built and maintained a board that is, in a word, outstanding.
